I’ve always been a goal setter… whether it’s been a goal set for the span of 2 weeks, 6 months or even 10 years. I’ve always felt I’ve had a sense of direction in what I want to achieve and have always been a very aspirational person. I feel lucky in this regard as so many people, regardless of their age, find it hard to see any sort of direction.
The reason I set goals, is me being a typical Gemini, aspire to do TOO many things, always jumping from one task to another without fully completing any task… so when I set goals, I ultimately see them as ‘deadlines’ (depending on the goal of course). So therefore I’d always try my absolute hardest to reach what I set myself to do.
Before setting goals, I always think first…. is this actually do-able, is it realistic? The LAST thing anyone wants to do is set unrealistic goals…. you’re just setting yourself up for failure. So with that, on with the ‘3 Year Goal Plans’!!
So it seems I’ve caught the travel bug…. the first 4 months of 2018 I already have trips on the go for Tahiti and the UK… so essentially you could say this goal is already ticked off? But I kinda want to make this one a long-term goal… as I still have plans to go to Italy to visit my family, New Zealand, and I also want to visit South Africa to help build houses/schools for the community.
2. Learn Italian
One thing I’ve always wanted to be able to do is speak fluent Italian. My whole family is Italian and all speak it, so it just seems right to do so! I start lessons Term 3 in 2018, and hopefully if all goes to plan I’ll be traveling Italy in 2019!
3.Read 2 books a month
I’ve never been big on reading, but now… it’s time to start. Previously I’ve always found that my mind races to much when I’m reading and I have difficulty staying focused, always trying to read ahead before I’ve even read the first two lines. So hopefully by working hard at this goal, I can also learn the art of focus.
4. Save for my Dream Car.
I’m currently 20. By the time I’m 22, I will have my Mini Cooper Cabrio in British Racing Green. I’m projecting it. It’s going to happen. ‘Nuff said.
5. Release my EP.
Music has always been my passion, and for a couple of years now, I have written ad performed numerous amounts of my original songs. The time has never been right to record as straight from year 12, I went to University, straight into a full-time job. But now is the time, and it’s something I NEED to invest my time into in the next 3 years.
6. Spend more time drawing.
Art is my passion…and my time always seems to get lost doing other things. I think it comes down to time management, but I am determined to make it happen… one way or another 🙂
I suppose the more I think about it, the more goals I have. But for now, I’m gonna stick to these and see how I go! Bring on 2018 and the next 3 years!
